Since day one of diagnosis I had a call in to the pediatrics place to try and talk to someone. It was something very important to me to let this place know what they had missed. Well they gave me a # to someone who supposedly was the business manager. So I called and left a message with of course no response. So after 10 or so days I tried calling again and left another message with no response. I was starting to get very frustrated when finally I received a call from the top doc. I explained how there was sarcastic remarks hinting at abuse, and malnutrition. I went on to tell him how he had bruises and a spleen that went to his belly button. This stuff was missed a week earlier by one of his MD’s. “I was the one who first found the enlarged spleen” I told him “yeah me the dumb construction worker” I managed to keep my cool but told him I was extremely angry about the deal. He replied you wouldn’t be a good dad if you weren’t. He went on to tell me that this is not the way they practice medicine and the MD that seen him will be job hunting soon. He gave me his personal cell phone number and told me if Taylor, Karrie, or myself get any sickness to call them and they will get us in immediately. We talked for a while longer and I told him I felt 100 times better just for simply talking to someone there. He replied I feel a 100 times worse now that I hear your side of this story.
So the moral of the story is. This simple phone call really filled a void inside me, I knew he TRULY cared and felt bad about the way we were treated.
Now to Conner. Another day of amazement. I can’t get over how strong and happy he still is. He has managed to pick up a couple nurse girlfriends already. Everytime his IV starts beeping Conner will push the nurse button and when they respond over the speaker he says. “I’m beeping, BABY” He grabbed one of the nursing students hands the other day, pulled it to his face like he was gonna kiss it and instead licked from knuckle to wrist. Very funny for all. He had to again receive red blood cells today. He received some yesterday also, but for some reason it didn’t make his count go up. His broviac has also managed to survive another journey up to the play room. I know that IV hose has gained a couple inches in length(stretch stretch) Overall very happy and energetic.
